This is the initial draft for mesh gradients and freeform gradients.

Things to note:

  • Existing gradients are called out as 1D gradients because they have a concept of a 'gradient line'. 2D gradients do not use that concept. Is that a confusing way to make the distinction, since even 1D gradients are still rendered on a 2D gradient box?
  • Is the nomenclature I've used for the mesh gradient internals correct?

This is still in draft. I'm sharing it early to help UAs with prototype implementations.

To generate a preview of my changes, you can use the spec generator and pass it a link to the bs file in this PR.

That seems reasonable to me, if the dimensions are not seen as dimensions on the image but rather, dimensions in how the gradient is specified. (The existing term gradient line can be a little confusing until this concept is grasped, because for conic gradients the line can be a spiral on the image space; but it is still a line where the color at any point is specified by a single progress along that line).

Given that, the two new gradients are indeed 2D gradients; the 2D position determines the color.
