RTC: remove the ability to alter polling intervals #77500
Per a request from @m, remove the ability for hosts to change polling intervals. It would be better for hosts to turn the feature off entirely than to slow the polling down to a point where the collaborative editing experience feels broken or unusable from a user experience/expectation perspective. cc @maxschmeling
The filters were added in #76518 and the defaults were made more conservative in #76704
My main question here would be whether we want to remove the ability to change them entirely, or just remove the ability to slow them down from where they are currently at the conservative default? Maybe allowing a host to make it a little more aggressive like it was originally would be good? Or do we just want one standard experience across the board?
The root of the concern was making the experience worse so removing the ability for folks to do that is the core of the ask and the area to prevent. I think leaving it open to be more aggressive on the flip side is okay to offer as it would lead to a better experience, assuming the host can manage the change. Let's proceed there but make it very clear in the documentation what the option entails.

Real-time collaboration will not ship in WordPress 7.0, so let's punt this to 7.1.
