Quotas
How much of each plan's usage limits you have used, and when they reset.
A quota window is a usage limit a provider applies to your plan, such as a 5-hour, weekly or monthly limit. CodeBurn reads each window from the provider with the login that tool already keeps on your machine. It does not log in for you and does not store your credentials. To track spend against a plan's price instead, see Plans & Currency.
codeburn quota
codeburn quota # a table of every connected provider
codeburn quota --format json # the same data as JSON
codeburn quota --no-colorThe table has Provider, Window, Used and Resets columns. A provider that is not signed in, or whose login expired, shows a line that says how to fix it. Notes that are not a window, such as Codex limit-reset credits, print under the provider's rows. When a ZCode app login and a Z.ai login read the same plan, the ZCode row is hidden as a duplicate.
Providers
| Provider | Windows | Read from |
|---|---|---|
| Claude | 5-hour, Weekly, and weekly limits per model (for example Weekly ยท Opus) | The Claude Code login, including the macOS Keychain |
| Codex | Named by their length (5-hour, Weekly), plus a monthly credit limit | The Codex login |
| Gemini | One window per model | The Gemini CLI login |
| GitHub Copilot | Premium requests, Chat | The Copilot login of your editor |
| Antigravity | The windows the app reports, with the plan tier | The Antigravity app or a signed-in agy CLI, on this machine only |
| Kimi | Weekly, plus the shorter windows the plan has | The Kimi CLI login |
| Cursor | Monthly, Auto, API, On-demand, Team pool. Enterprise team seats show Team on-demand. | The Cursor app login |
| Z.ai | 5-hour, Weekly | ZAI_API_KEY, or the Pi CLI login |
| ZCode | 5-hour, Weekly | The ZCode app login |
| Grok | Weekly or Monthly credits, named by when they reset | The Grok CLI login |
| Grok Bot | Weekly usage. Shown only when the Grok Bot app is installed. | The Cursor app login |
| ClinePass | 5-hour, Weekly, Monthly | CLINEPASS_API_KEY, CLINE_API_KEY, or the Cline CLI login |
| Devin | Daily, Weekly | The cache the Devin CLI keeps. No network call, and each reading says how old it is. |
| Command Code | 5-hour, Weekly, Monthly | The Command Code CLI login |
Logins are read only, never written. When a login expires, CodeBurn asks you to sign in again in that tool. For example, an expired Cline login says "Cline login expired" and how to renew it.
Where each provider shows
codeburn quotaand the macOS menu bar: every provider in the table.- Desktop app (Plans, Live quota) and the VS Code extension: Claude, Codex, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, Antigravity, Kimi, ZCode and Grok Bot.
Desktop app
Plans has a Live quotapanel with a bar per window, its percentage and when it resets ("42% used ยท resets in 3h 10m"). A provider the app has not read yet says "not checked" with a Check now button. On macOS the first check may ask once for keychain access. A provider that rate limits the quota endpoint is retried a few minutes later.
A bar changes to a warning colour at 70% and to a stronger one at 90%. Settings has a switch per provider: a provider you switch off is never read and never contacted.
macOS menu bar
The menu bar shows the same windows in its popover and in the Capacity Dock. Its colours follow four bands, shared by the menu bar flame, the quota bars and the dock rings:
| Used | Colour |
|---|---|
| Below 60% | Green |
| 60% to 70% | Yellow |
| 70% to 95% | Orange |
| 95% and over | Red |
Under Settings, Notifications, the menu bar can post:
- Quota crossings: when a window passes 80% and when it reaches 100%.
- Early resets: when a provider resets a limit before its scheduled time. "Quota reset early" means the reset moved forward. "Cleared early" means the provider cleared your usage but the window still ends at its usual time.
- Codex banked resets: OpenAI sometimes grants a Codex account a credit that resets a limit early. CodeBurn tells you once per grant and never spends one.
Peak and off-peak hours
Two vendors charge less outside their peak hours. When a period has usage on their own first-party routes, codeburn models adds a Peak / Off-peak column that splits the cost between the two windows.
| Route | Peak hours | Off-peak |
|---|---|---|
| DeepSeek Harness (DeepSeek API) | Monday to Friday, 01:00 to 04:00 and 06:00 to 10:00 UTC, except Chinese public holidays | Billed at half the rate |
| ZCode (Z.ai GLM Coding Plan) | Monday to Friday, 14:00 to 18:00 Singapore time | Plan credits count at half the rate |
The split only shows where usage ran. CodeBurn does not reprice it: the vendor applies the discount on its own bill. The same models through a gateway such as OpenRouter are not split, because a gateway charges the same price all day.
