If you have the ChatGPT desktop app, it can create a complete Remotion project that you can edit, run, and render locally using the Remotion plugin.

Coding Agent Prompt

Paste into a coding agent, such as Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode:

Ensure Node.js is installed.
Install Remotion Skills: npx -y skills@latest add remotion-dev/skills -g -y
Then use them to create a video.

From the command line

npx create-video@latest --yes --blank my-video
cd my-video
npx remotion skills add
npm run dev

Creates a video in the my-video directory using the blank template and Agent Skills, without TailwindCSS.

Templates

Choose the template that is most suitable for you. For your first project, we recommend the Hello World template.

Wizard

Customize the creation of a Remotion project by selecting a package manager, a template and whether to install Agent Skills.

npm

Use npm as the package manager
npx create-video@latest

bun

Use pnpm as the package manager
pnpm create video

After the project has been scaffolded, start the local development server:

After the project has been scaffolded, we recommend to open the project in your text editor and starting the Remotion Studio:

npm run dev

Next.js + React Router 7

After the project has been scaffolded, we recommend to open the project in your text editor and starting the app:

npm run dev

To start the Remotion Studio:

npm run remotion

ESLint

Remotion templates include a recommended ESLint configuration. See @remotion/eslint-config to choose the config for your ESLint version or to add it to another project.

System requirements

To use Remotion, you need at least Node 16 or Bun 1.0.3.
🍎 macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later is required. Older versions are not supported.
🐧 Linux distros need glibc 2.35 or later. Amazon Linux 2023 on ARM64 is supported with glibc 2.34. Amazon Linux 2023 on x64 is unsupported. They also need to install some additional packages.
Alpine Linux and nixOS are unsupported.
